  Notes	Son of James Arkell and Mary Pearce. He was a "Pentonvillean Exile" to Victoria having stolen picture frames from his carpenter/framemaker employer in Gloucestershire. He seems to have been charged with at least 2 theft offences before being incarcerated and then deported. He established his farm Bylands near Bald Hill and Wandong outside of Melbourne and on his wife's death certificate also describes himself as a storekeeper. The stone farm buildings he and Flora Cameron built are still there. (Ref. Rosemary Willis) He m.2. Martha Jane Key, widow, no issue. She d. 6 Jan 1910
