She is also recorded as daughter of Thomas Baylis, carpenter of Bristol and Maria (Ref. censuses, marriage cert.). or "Dau. of Christiana Baylis and Thomas Gibson Brown". Said to be a twin. 1881 Census states she was born ca 1858, Bristol, with "relative" Jane Baylis living with her in Worcestershire.
