4. | John Cameron was born in ca 1748 (son of Alexander Cameron); died in ca 1832 in Lachine, Quebec. Notes:
Recorded as 8th of Inveruiskavouline, descended from Macgillonies of Strone.
He was evicted in 1804 and went to Canada.
Nephews Ranald (or Ronald) and Duncan are also recorded in Canada, as is a sister Jane.

Notes:
7th of Inveruiskavouline.
He actively fought on the Government side during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. For the next thirty years,he was paid £70 annually by Campbell of Breadalbane,to apprehend thiefs,and prevent theft,throughout the Western Highlands. Nicknamed "The Thief Taker",he was also engaged in espionage against prominent Jacobites in the years following the Rebellion.
