6. | Charles Hope Johnston Smith was born in ca 1811 in Ormiston, East Lothian. Other Events:
- Immigration ship: Ivanhoe
Notes:
Garden architect, of 65 York Place, Edinburgh.
He migrated to Victoria with his family, arriving March 1855 per "Ivanhoe".
Also listed with the family on "Ivanhoe" were Lucy Smith, aged 10, Una Smith, aged 8 and Eliza Smith aged 6. None of these can be found as children of Charles and Una in Scotland, or in Victoria where they likely died. With two the same age and one the same name at Charles and Una's children, they are probably orphan cousins.
Charles married Una Cameron on 1 Jul 1839 in Kilmonivaig or Edinburgh. Una (daughter of Capt. William Cameron, of Camisky and Jean Cameron) was born on 29 Oct 1819 in Camisky; was christened on 15 Nov 1819 in Kilmonivaig; died on 26 Oct 1894 in Kyneton, Vic. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
