He died at Howard Park, Hexham, the farm of William Howard Greenway (?son of Francis Howard Greenaway, architect), presumably where he lived and worked.

His wife's death notice in Maitland Mercury in November gives death date 12 Aug 1889, as above. His sisters-in-law's notice in SMH in December gives a death date of 27 July at his residence at Tarro.

John married Miriam Shoesmith on 9 Sep 1879 in Narrowgut, Morpeth. Miriam was born on 22 Sep 1858 in Maitland; died in 1928 in West Maitland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
