| 2. | John Cameron was born in ca 1781 in Highbridge, Inverroy (son of Donald Cameron and Ann McArthur); died on 16 Feb 1856 in Corriechoille; was buried in Cille Choirill, Inverness-shire. Notes:
He was famous as a wealthy sheep owner and drover of Inverroy, tacksman of several farms (including Corriechoille, across the River Spean from Inverroy) and owning up to 20,000 sheep and several thousand cattle. Described as "a badly dressed little man ... with a sharp hooked nose and lynx eyes .., he frequently rode 120 miles in a day, carrying some bread and cheese in his pocket and giving his pony now and then a bottle of porter"
John married Amelia MacPherson on 5 Apr 1816 in Spean Bridge. Amelia was born on 26 Jul 1787 in Kilmonivaig. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

daughter of John MacPherson, sometime Tacksman of Corriechoillie, and widow of the Revd John Ord, chaplain of the garrison and rector of the Grammar School at Fort William, who died 7 Jan 1811 aged 42.
