    Notes:

    He was famous as a wealthy sheep owner and drover of Inverroy, tacksman of several farms (including Corriechoille, across the River Spean from Inverroy) and owning up to 20,000 sheep and several thousand cattle. Described as "a badly dressed little man ... with a sharp hooked nose and lynx eyes .., he frequently rode 120 miles in a day, carrying some bread and cheese in his pocket and giving his pony now and then a bottle of porter"
