  Notes	Captain in the Albany Regiment from 1747. He succeeded as Lochiel in 1748 at about 14-16 years of age on his father's death. In April 1757 he was detained at Dover, described as 23 years of age, 10 years a Captain in the French service and hoping to get employment in Britain (Cheshire Advertiser). Went to Scotland in 1759 but had no home there and lived in London and Edinburgh. He died, unmarried, Edinburgh, Nov 1762, aged 30 years, bur. Kilmallie, at the insistence of his sister Ann
