- Lt Colonel d'Infantrie in 1765.
- One letter is addressed to Donald 22nd Lochiel at M. Chevalier Morris, Bart., Amboise. This may be confusing him with Sir Nicholas Morris, Bart., MP for Newport early/mid 1700s, no apparent relation (his son was Sir William). There is a suggestion he was an Irishman in the French service (Stewart, p. 126), but in a letter in 1765 he writes English as an undoubted Frenchman. They lived at Amboise, Touraine, in the late 1780's A possible descendant was Jacque Morres, who m. 27 Nov 1710, St Germaine-en-Laye
