His descendants have made a claim of illegitimate descent from the Camerons of Erracht, suggesting that this may have been Ewen of Erracht, father of Sir Alan Cameron of the 79th Highlanders. I have seen no evidence to substantiate this claim. A letter of 1900 (see John7) states that Allan Cameron, grandson of Margaret was second cousin of Camerons of Drochit Onich, identified as Callart branch
