Wounded at Culloden, his estate was forfeited to the crown and he was banished to France. A letter from Colin Campbell of Glenure (Forfeited estate papers) dated 20 Nov 1749, states that he "died last month at Dunkirk".

Will of June 1797, proven 5 Apr 1799, London notes his sister Ann, his late brother Charles and their children.

15. | Charlotte Euphemia Cameron (5.Charles3, 2.Allan2, 1.1) was born on 27 Jun 1779; was christened on 29 Jun 1779 in Kilmuir Easter, Ross & Cromarty; died in May 1803 in London; was buried on 15 May 1803 in St James, Westminster. Notes:
"niece of the late Major-General Cameron", aka Brigadier General Duncan Cameron, quarter master general in the West Indies, late of 132nd Foot, who died 2 Oct 1798, Martinique. An annuity from him of 1000 pounds was due to her after the death of his widow, as noted in her will of April 1803, which left all to her husband Charles.
Charlotte married Lt. Colonel Charles Cameron, 3rd Regt (Buffs) on 1 Oct 1800 in Rochester, Kent. Charles (son of Donald Cameron and Catherine Cameron) was born on 4 May 1777 in Drimnasalie, Kilmallie; died on 15 May 1827 in Chinsurah, near Calcutta, India (MI). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
