5. | Alexander Cameron, 3rd of Dungallon (2.Archibald2, 1.Marjorie1) died on 3 Sep 1759 in Quebec. Notes:
Major in Lochiel's Regt in 1745, Standard bearer in Prince's army. He surrendered 6 Mar 1746, transferred from Inverary to Edinburgh Castle March 1747.(Ref. London papers March 1747). He was released 11 Oct 1749 (London Evening Post).
Capt. in 78st Fraser Highlanders, gazetted 21 Jul 1757, having served as ensign (the regiment was formed early 1757).
His will of 1757 left all his property to John Cameron, 4th of Glendessary. The will also mentions Donald Cameron, "my natural son" (Ref. Chris Doak)
It has been suggested that Captain Alexander Cameron of Dungallon, who died 1759, is in fact the son of the standard bearer. Regimental histories record him as 4th of Dungallon. One recent (unsourced) independent book gives a birth date of 1730, which would seem to fit his rank (Bernard A. Drew, re Henry Knox).
However a further review of dates of known family members makes this suggestion unlikely.

21. | Isabel Cameron (7.Jean3, 2.Archibald2, 1.Marjorie1) was born in 1753. Notes:
It has not been proven that the known Bell Cameron, daughter of Dr Archibald, is the same person as Isabel Cameron who married Hector Cameron. If she is, it would best explain the strong tradition in Hector's later family of a connection to Dr Archibald Cameron.
Isabel married Hector Cameron on 1 Dec 1770 in Glasgow. Hector died in ca 1791 in Oban. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

22. | Ewen Cameron, XII of Glennevis (8.Mary3, 2.Archibald2, 1.Marjorie1) was born in 1738; died on 11 Dec 1797 in Glen Nevis. Notes:
Joined 78th Fraser Highlanders as ensign 1757 (aged 18), lieut. 1758, wounded Jul 1759 and retired on half pay 1763
A story that "He was wounded in the neck while an infant, concealed in his mother's plaid after the '45" does not fit known dates. See - "in a letter sent to Bishop Forbes by the wife of Dr. Archibald Cameron regarding her sister married to Alexander Cameron of Glennevis she reports that the gold lace and gold buttons were cut from the young son's coat and that he was wounded."(Ref. The Companions of Pickle, by Andrew Lang)
